Why walk, when you can fly?

On Saturday 6th September, I'm going to do a parachute jump from 13,000ft.... as ya do like. I'll be a Para Shootin' thru the sky! ...and all in the name of Charity. Well... actually, the idea of freefalling towards the Earth at 180mph for nearly a minute is a big incentive! But shur why not raise a few bob in the process. I won't be jumping alone... My brothers and sisters and some friends will be doing it too, so I don't feel like I'm the only one loosing my marbles. They have jumped recently during the I.P.C.'s (Irish Parachute Clubs) record breaking Tandem event, so they've a fair idea what's in store for them. To me it's always been a dream and nothing more, so I'm really looking forward to it!

It will also be interesting to see how it's even possible in my physical condition, considering the physical challenges involved, but we'll see how it goes I guess. I heard one horror story of a girl who was wheelchair bound that did a jump and broke her two legs on impact, so that's kind of worrying! Hmmm... but they do tell me they've developed new landing techniques since. Knowin my luck I'll land in the Figile River! I just hope the waters warm haha

The Charity Organization I want to raise money for is Spinal Injuries Ireland (info. below) who have always been a support network for me over the last 10 years since my accident. But this place would not exist if not for the money raised by various charity events and tireless dedication from its staff. Please lend me your support and help me raise as much dosh as possible before the 6th!!

I've set up a secure web page for online donations. Please have a look
http://www.mycharity.ie/event/para_shoot_jump/

To find out about the amazing work they do, please check out their website www.siairl.org

This will be a great day out, weather permitting, so if you're in the big city of Clonbullogue on that day don't hesitate to pop in. The Club has great dining facilities and parking too which is really worth the visit. For more info. about the I.P.C. please check them out at www.skydive.ie

We'll be filming the whole event as it unfolds so anyone that makes a donation will receive a copy of the DVD. (We can exchange postal addresses through email paddy@paddyslattery.com )
Or if we meet in person I'll have a sponsor card with me. So don't be shy!! =o)

Cheers and take care,
Paddy
